Institute

The Institute of Economics of the Polish Academy of Sciences zwas established on the basis of the resolution of the Presidium of the Polish Academy of Sciences of December 10, 1980, approved by the Prime Minister on January 5, 1981. It was granted legal personality by the decision of the President of the Polish Academy of Sciences of October 7, 1999. The Statute of the Institute is available here.

Employees of the Institute

The Institute employs forty researchers. It is authorized to confer the degrees of doctor and habilitated doctor and apply for the title of professor in the field of economic sciences. The Scientific Council of the Institute performs consultative and advisory functions and initiates the directions of scientific work. The chairman of the Scientific Council is prof. dr hab. Barbara Blaszczyk. The director of the Institute is prof. dr hab. Andrzej Szablewski

The previous directors of the Institute were: prof. dr hab. Józef Pajestka (1981-1990), prof. dr hab. Cezary Józefiak (1990-1993), prof. dr hab. Marek Belka (1993-1996), prof. dr hab. Urszula Grzelońska (1996-1999), prof. dr hab. Zbigniew Hockuba (1999-2005), prof. dr hab. Leszek Jasiński (2005-2013), prof. call dr hab. Cezary Wójcik (2013-2015), prof. call dr hab. Piotr Krajewski (2015-2018).
