On behalf of the organizers—the Institute of Economics of the Polish Academy of Sciences (INE PAN) and the FREE Network—we are pleased to invite you to an international conference titled:
REGIONAL INFLUENCE THROUGH ACADEMIA: POLAND’S ROLE IN INTEGRATING THE REGIONAL ACADEMIC COMMUNITY
The conference aims to foster broader regional integration among the scientific communities and academic institutions of Central and Eastern Europe. Discussions will address the internationalization of research, the significance of regional academic cooperation, the benefits of integration, and the role Poland can play in strengthening this process.
The conference will be divided into two parts. The first will focus on opportunities for the broader internationalization of research and the strengthening of research capacity in Poland, as well as the role of science in the context of geopolitical instability in the region. The second part, organized as an expert panel, will address the steps needed for Poland to become a regional center of scientific excellence. Participants in the panel will include, among others, the Swedish Ambassador to Poland, Martina Quick; Prof. Jerzy Duszyński of the Polish Academy of Sciences; and Dr. Michał Goszczyński, Director of the Department of International Cooperation at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
We hope that the conference will provide an opportunity for an in-depth discussion on how the academic community—with the support of public authorities in Poland and other European Union countries—can contribute to the development and stability of our region.
The conference will take place on October 1, 2026, in the Mirror Hall of the Staszic Palace, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. A detailed conference program is attached to this message.
