The course is designed for people planning to establish cooperation or develop their career in the science and technology sector. In particular, the addressees of the offer will be:

  • doctoral students of both the old and the new mode (participants of doctoral studies or preparing a dissertation at the doctoral school)
  • university administrative support staff
  • scientists working at or outside the university
  • employees of companies from the science and technology sector in positions in management, HR or R&D departments
  • graduates of bachelor's or master's studies

The aim of the course is to familiarize participants with a set of solutions ready to be used in entrepreneurial activities at the intersection of science and business. A special place in the program will be occupied by the principles of building projects by entities of various structures, based on solutions used in Polish and foreign organizations. Benefits and challenges related to the use of various models of technology transfer from universities to business or industry will also be considered. The aim of the course is also to familiarize participants with the legal rules, thanks to which they will be able to conduct scientific and didactic work without infringing the intellectual property of others, as well as to fully use their own research potential, both in scientific activity and in cooperation with business. The final goal of the course is to familiarize participants with the characteristics, way of thinking and acting of people who are successful as entrepreneurs and to train soft skills useful in effectively running their own business in the form of a scientific business.

Justyna Makłuch-Świtalska, PhD, Agnieszka Bożek, PhD, Mariusz Kusion, MA

dr Justyna Małkuch-Świtalska – researcher developer, certified coach, Associate Trainer of the British organization of academic trainers Vitae (The CRAC, Cambridge), juror of the Three Minute Thesis® competition (2019 and 2020). Author of the book: “Scientific projects. Management in practice” (PWN, 2020).
Member of the research team at the Université de Lorraine, lecturer at the Université de Reims Champagne-Ardenne in France (2011-2017). As an expert evaluator and monitoring expert at the European Commission (H2020-MSCA-SwafS-COFUND), she specializes in designing and evaluating international training programs for scientists. She also analyzes the competences and professional situation of researchers in Poland and in the world. Science manager with fourteen years of experience, she actively participates in activities, e.g. LifeScience Cracow Cluster and PWN Publishing House. She is the first science trainer registered in Poland, she specializes in strategic management of scientific career, including recruitment processes, balances of competence and activity of scientists in various branches of the economy. For ten years she has been the President of the Association for the Development of Doctoral Students and Doctors PolDoc, of which she is the founder. She is also the originator of the Scientific Careers Forum, the first edition of which took place in April 2016 in Warsaw, and the Business & Science Network organized periodically in Krakow. A graduate of schools and training courses in Poland and France, she has completed over 1,200 hours of training. Her activities covered several dozen Polish and several foreign universities with diverse research and didactic profiles.

PhD Agnieszka Bożek – psychologist, personal and social skills trainer, ACC ICF coach.
She graduated from applied psychology at the Jagiellonian University and doctoral studies at the Institute of Psychology at the Jagiellonian University. As part of her professional training, she completed a 4-year Psychodynamic Psychotherapy School at the Cracow Psychodynamic Center, Advanced Trainer Training at the Elżbieta Sołtys Psychological Studio and the Meritum Coaching School. For over 11 years she has been preparing and conducting workshops and trainings in the field of personal and social competences for educational institutions, non-governmental organizations and business, including for over 7 years as part of her own company QPSYCHOLOGY. She cooperates with the Association for the Development of the Career of PhD and PhD Students PolDoc and the company Trener Nauki in the field of conducting workshops and training in psychosocial and didactic competences for universities and research institutes. It also publishes expert articles on websites for professionals, in business magazines and in scientific journals.

Mariusz Kusion – lawyer, trainer, author of expert legal articles, entrepreneur. He graduated from law studies at the Jagiellonian University. He runs the Ars Iuridica Law Firm. He has experience in providing legal services to startups, non-governmental organizations, universities and individuals. He also worked in local government administration and the university (UJ), as well as in the implementation of grant projects. While working at the university, dealt with internal legislation.
He prepares opinions, audits and legal expertises, implements the GDPR, publishes legal expert articles for universities, magazines and industry websites. He specializes in copyright, civil, commercial and local government law.
He has conducted over 500 training hours, e.g. for scientists, students, officials, entrepreneurs as well as social activists and creators. The beneficiaries of the training are, among others: the Jagiellonian University, the Warsaw School of Economics, the Warsaw University of Life Sciences, the Silesian University of Technology, the Medical University of Silesia, the Medical University of Łódź and Wrocław, the Poldoc Association, the District Office in Kraków, the Wrocław University of Economics, and the Employers' Association of Western Pomerania in Szczecin.

Organization of classes

Classes are held on Saturdays and Sundays at 9.00-16.30 once a month for 4 months. The course is conducted online.
